This past Thursday, I had the opportunity to join a group of fellow reader fairies in New York City to attend a pop-up event and meet Jessa Hastings, the author of the Magnolia Parks series, Never series, The Conditions of Will, and The Time of Our Lives. I have to say, it was one of the cutest and most well-done book events I’ve been to in a long time. Now, being from the Midwest doesn’t exactly set me up with a ton of experience in the matter, but I can confidently say this was no Barnes & Noble book signing. (No hate to a traditional signing—this just felt like a breath of fresh air.)
Jessa invited us to a private shopping experience and book signing, where we were able to get three books signed each. I chose to bring The Long Way Home, Magnolia Parks, and The Conditions of Will. She asked which one was my favorite, and obviously, because I am a Julian stan, I had to say The Long Way Home.
They served champagne, and it didn’t feel like we were rushed in and out, while still keeping the entry line moving smoothly. Jessa and her team were there, and I have to say they were absolutely fabulous. Her husband seemed incredibly supportive, and it was really lovely to see such a strong, supportive group of women around her.
I hope more authors start hosting intimate pop-ups because I truly haven’t felt this connected to an author in a long time. It was clear this wasn’t a money grab, as it was so thoughtfully intimate, and the tickets were very affordable. If something like this comes near you, I highly recommend stepping out of your comfort zone and attending—even if you go alone.
Until Next Chapter,
SBB

I always recommend starting with Magnolia Parks, but if you want to start with a standalone book, The Conditions of Will is a great read. 🙂
